In 2023, a flicker of hope illuminated the life of Ntate Jas from the Klerksdorp community, thanks to Spectrum Utility Management (SUM). Ntate Jas, a blind man, faced the devastating loss of his home due to a candle mishap. However, amidst the ashes, SUM emerged as a beacon of compassion and support, rebuilding his shattered home from the ground up.
With a sponsorship of R60,000, SUM undertook the task of reconstructing Ntate Jas’ dwelling. Spearheaded by Mr. Dewald Pretorius, the Managing Director, and Ms. Tshepiso Phosa, the Sales & Marketing Director, along with the unwavering support of Mr. Chris Miller, this project swiftly took shape. Under their leadership, the reconstruction was not just a task but a mission to restore dignity and security to Ntate Jas’ life.
In a remarkable display of efficiency, the dedicated team at SUM completed the construction within a mere two weeks. Such swift action exemplifies their commitment to serving communities with urgency and dedication.
As the project reached its fruition, local leaders, including Counsellor Tshepang from ward 10 in Klerksdorp, and other community figures, joined forces with Spectrum to present the newly rebuilt home to Ntate Jas. This act of solidarity showcased the power of collaboration in fostering positive change within communities.
However, SUM’s support didn’t end with the completion of the house. Looking ahead to 2024, Spectrum has pledged to fundraise for furniture, ensuring that Ntate Jas’ home is not only rebuilt but also furnished with comfort and care. This ongoing commitment reflects Spectrum’s ethos of sustained support and empowerment.
